3 Months of Giant Snowdrops Collection
In the Dutch village of Breezand, Patrick van den Berg and his son carry on a family tradition of growing exceptional flower bulbs. Specializing in snowdrops, Patrick’s journey began with his father, who started the nursery and introduced the family to these delicate yet resilient blooms. Around 2001, a shipment of snowdrop bulbs from Turkey sparked Patrick’s fascination with their natural variation. Through careful observation and meticulous selection, he uncovered something extraordinary—snowdrops that bloomed at distinct times from January through March.
Intrigued, Patrick sorted his harvested bulbs based on subtle differences in colour and shape. In the following years, he refined his selections, ensuring each retained its distinct character and vigour. The result? Three stunning varieties of Galanthus elwesii (aka Giant Snowdrop)—Snow Fox, heralding the season in January; Beluga, which graces February with its blooms; and Polar Bear, making its grand entrance in March.
Breck’s is proud to offer these remarkable snowdrops for fall 2026 planting. Hardy, healthy and perfect for dry shipping, they’ll bring a touch of Patrick’s expertise and passion to gardens across the U.S.
