Keizerskroon Tulip (Emperor's Crown)

Dating back to 1750, this brilliant heirloom variety is even older than Breck's, but it's still a stunner. Keizerskroon is Dutch for "emperor's crown," a fitting name for this eyecatching tulip whose scented, egg-shaped flowers are intensely red and edged in vibrant gold. This historic variety is also called Grand Duc.
