Yellow Double Hollyhock

Generations of gardeners have loved hollyhocks for their tall spikes and gorgeous flowers—and this one brings sunshiny colour and warmth to back borders and fence lines. From summer to fall, large, fully double, crepe-textured flowers open from the bottom up, beckoning butterflies and hummingbirds. Unlike many sun-loving perennials, Yellow Double Hollyhock is safe to plant under Black Walnut trees, as they tolerate the toxic juglone released through that tree's roots. These hollyhocks grow up to 8' tall, so they make a stunning backdrop for lower growing perennials. Once established, they're drought tolerant. Foraging deer tend to pass them by.
